LINDA KEEN

VOCALS & FIDDLE

These recordings, along with their narratives, are a tribute to the glory days of my discovery of learning -- and often just attempting to learn -- how to replicate old-style music as a classically trained violinist. It happened for me in the San Francisco Bay Area in the beginning of the 1970's right after college, resulting in all the music you will hear on this album. This exciting adventure included my eventual formation of a "fiddle workshop" in which I taught large groups until moving abroad where I ended up living and raising a family. Today, back in California where I grew up, I continue to find teaching violin and fiddle, especially to beginners of all ages (it's never too late!), one of the most enjoyable activities I can imagine. Next to this is performing with my band, Stepping Stone, for nearly a decade already at pubs, wineries, marathons, weddings and celebrations, and even with the Capital Dance Project of Sacramento! RAY FRANK

GUITAR

A large proportion of the things I’ve enjoyed over the 65+ years have revolved around music.  I’m an accompanist, multi-instrumentalist, performer, arranger, singer, teacher/coach, producer, luthier: the list keeps growing. My greatest delight comes from sharing music with friends and helping them find their own paths to the music that moves them. If you enjoy this recording, go ahead and learn the tunes you like. Play them, share them, make them your own. That’s when they’re the best.
